Space Ham was my entry for the 2nd semester exam. I worked whole "five" weeks on this project. With concepts, modelling, animating, texturing, rendering, post-editing AND the presentation.

Week One
The first goal was to figure out: "I have five weeks. Is my Animation even possible?"
Five weeks are not a lot of time, so i have planed all well. Each model had an exact timevalue. I created just a few scribbles for the object in the environment, like the trees, apples, cameras. Just enough to have a straight modelling drafts.
But our teacher also wanted some concept-drawings. Well there goes another day...
Week Two
The second and third week was only for medelling, texturing and rigging. I never rigged a character before and this was also the trickiest part. I used no biped at all. Just a few bones, but it worked.... after a marathon of fails.
I also worked on the textures. After a few test renderings, i used plain color, but with a cell-shading shader. Some objects were tough textured.
Week Three
Ham, the character, is done and a few objects. But i had a whole (little) world to create. I also tested new mechanics and technics and if you use new things, you also got problems...a whole bunch of.
I modelled like... 3 days of this week and the rest were used to fixing all problems.
Week Four
More modelling and testing, but then i looked in my timeplan. "Just one more week? Eeh.."
I had to speed up. Just a few more animations and testrenderings to calculate the final rendering.
Three days?!?
Week Five
Duh Duh Dun! This was the easiest part of the project: "Let the rendering begin!" But i had to made my presentation. I was pretty glad, that i made a renderplan (a bunch of papers). So every scene was numbert and ready for the cut.
The whole rendering (just the blank Mental Ray rendered pictures) where like... 50 GB of harddrive space. Oh Boy!
After some cleaning, the cut and post production of the video: I was done... i made it just in time, but... what was that?
Week Six
One more week? Some of my colleagues weren´t finished. Fine, so i can add an extra scene! And this scene was a great addition. The whole "Star Wars"-scene was made in only this week. Moddeling, animation, the particles, rendering, cutting and post production... all done in this extra week. After this "5" weeks of straight worktime, my mind was glad about a short vacation.
I am glad about the final product and i hope you will enjoy it :)
